MIX-COPPER was my first completed furniture project after founding VIN'S ARCHI. STUDIO in July 2018. MIX-COPPER was developed from MIX Chair, which it was created during my part time studying in the Hong Kong Design Institute. In designing and further developing MIX-COPPER, there were two main inspirations. One was the uniqueness of high-grade natural wood. Another one was the architectural design and structural design of concrete plinths. Ebony wood is one of the high-grade natural wood in the world. It is usually adopted in the luxurious furniture, and will become more beautiful and special after years and years. The 6 load-bearing points under the seat are made reference of the design of concrete plinths, just like the design of chilled water air handling unit placed on the several concrete plinths in the car park or roof.
